Facebook App Launched

July 30th, 2009 admin No comments

I am proud to announce that LottoBongo website has been  launched! You can access it either as Facebook App at http://apps.facebook.com/lottobongo/ or at http://www.lottobongo.com/. There are only 2 Validator Tools (or also called Lottery Checker) available for the moment and they are for Canada’s Lotto 6/49 and Super 7. I am launching the website because these 2 Validator Tools are working very well with up-to-date lottery results and hopefully, they can already help some people while I work on the US Mega-Millions and PowerBall. Today, LottoBongo has reached its biggest milestone and the development doesn’t stop here. Stay tuned for the upcoming big feature…

The Validator Tool (some people call it Lottery Checker) for Lotto 6/49 is now working. Here is the first Validator screenshot:

As you can see, development of LottoBongo.com is going well and the website will be up and running shortly. For those programmers who are interested in which technologies I am using, all I can say is that JQuery is my new best friend :)

Let’s continue…

The first draft of my Facebook app is partially done. However, you will not be able to view it yet because I set the application as Sandbox, this means that only the developer can see it for now. In the mean time, I am currently retrieving the historical lottery results of Mega Million and Powerball in the United States. These 4 lotteries (Lotto 6/49, Lotto Super 7, Powerball and Mega Million) are the main lotteries that I first want in my website because they are Country wide. This way, a lot of people can already use my app. Once my Facebook app is online, I will then attack all the state and provincial lotteries in North America…

Time to start…

The entire lottery results retrieval for Lotto 6/49 and Super 7 is now completed. I will now start the first website draft as a Facebook Apps. I am so excited!!!! I just can’t wait for the day where I will attract 1 million users on Facebook using my application. Just wait to see all the ideas I will implement related to the lottery, you will just want to buy a share of my project…

Next Step…

There are many things to do first before we can have a live website:

  1. learn about programming technologies to be used (AJAX, JSON via webservices, LINQ, JQuery and XFBML)
  2. retrieve historical lottery results
  3. database analysis
  4. website design
  5. deployment setup and preparation (domain name and hosting)

Items number #1 and #5 are already done.  Item number #3 is partially done so I can now work on item #2 and create a Windows form that will parse a particular website (I cannot tell the name of the site yet) and save all the historical lottery results in my database.

Being a Canadian resident, I will concentrate on the Canadian lotteries for now so I will start retrieving Lotto 6/49 and Lotto Super 7 lottery results. Stay tuned…
